GUWAHATI, March 22 - The theme song of the Namami Brahmaputra Festival has hurt the sentiments and feelings of the indigenous people, the All Assam Tribal Sangha has alleged.
Sangha general secretary Aditya Khaklary said the actual history of Assam and the North East has been distorted in the song. It has shown utter disregard to cultural harmony and tribal culture and history. The cultural history of Assam-Arunachal Pradesh has not been showcased at all, he said.
If anyone can pronounce the word Brahmaputra, it does not mean he or she is well versed in the history, identity and glory of the Brahmaputra and its contribution towards the civilisations development, he said, demanding a ban on the song.
