DERGAON, Nov 13 - The Golaghat district administration has banned the use of imported firecrackers during the Festival of Light and Kali puja in the district.
Additional district magistrate Roktim Boruah imposed the ban considering the safety of people with immediate effect from today.
Exercising the power entrusted upon him under Section 144 of CrPC, he also prohibited any stock and selling of such imported firecrackers except greencrackers and crackers of permissible range.
The order stated that the chemical composition of the green crackers must be clearly stated on the box etc.
The order also prohibited the use of firecrackers from 10 pm to 8 am.
