Ban on earth cutting from hills in Kamrup

MIRZA, June 23 � The Kamrup district administration has imposed a ban on illegal cutting, collection and transportation of red soil from hills in the entire Kamrup district by enforcing Section 144 of the CrPC in the entire district with immediate effect, stated a press release issued by the DIPRO, Kamrup.

Official sources said that large-scale cutting and carriage of red soil from hills has resulted in clogging of drains, besides contributing to soil erosion in the hills, that might lead to loss of human lives and destruction of properties on a large scale. Joint committees with circle officials of the concerned revenue circle as the chairman have also been constituted to look after the issue.

The Kamrup district administration has also apprehended that unauthorised plying of trucks, dumpers loaded with stone, soil, coal, sand etc., from Rani and Bongara through the villages like Bahupara, Rajapanichanda, Andherijuli, Chachalpara, Khenaallibari, Rajapara etc., could result in human problems and destruction of properties and hence, by another order, the administration has also imposed a ban on the plying of trucks, dumpers loaded with stone, sand, soil, coal in the Rani area during night from 6 pm to 6 am with immediate effect.

The administration has also prohibited assembly of five or more people, procession, loud speakers, carrying of explosives, arms in the entire district by enforcing Section 144 of the CrPC with immediate effect, an official press release stated.
