Balaji, Vishnu champs

GUWAHATI, March 3 - N Sriram Balaji and Vishnu Vardhan of India clinched the doubles crown defeating Sanam Singh and his partner N Prashanth of India 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 in the ongoing ITF Men�s Futures Tennis Tournament at the All Assam Tennis Association Complex in Chachal here today.

Earlier in the morning Sasi Kumar Mukund of India stormed into the finals of the singles event by ousting 2nd seeded Vishnu Vardhan 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. In the other semifinal, 4th seeded Sami Reinwein of Germany defeated Shane Vinsant of USA 6-2, 7-5 to reach the finals.

In a brief prize distribution ceremony, the prizes of the doubles event were distributed by Tournament Director and secretary of AATA, Ankush Dutta in the presence of AATA president Raktim Saikia and treasurer Swapnil Borthakur. The singles final match will be played tomorrow at 2.30 p.m. The final match will be telecasted live by Doordarshan.

Results: Singles Semifinals: 3rd seed Sasi Kumar Mukund (IND) bt top seed Vishnu Vardhan (IND) 6-3, 4-6, 6-1; 4th seed Sami Reinwein (GER) bt Shane Vinsant (USA) 6-2, 7-5. Doubles Final: N Sriram Balaji (IND)/ Vishnu Vardhan (IND) bt N Vijay Sundar Prashanth (IND)/ Sanam Singh (IND) 6-3, 3-6, 10-6.
