Balajan police oupost needs upgradation

By Correspondent

GAURIPUR, Oct 18 - Balajan Police Outpost under Gauripur Police Station in the district of Dhubri was formally inaugurated on December 23, 2011 by Sunil Dutta, the then Deputy Commissioner, Dhubri in the presence of Pradip Kumar Saloi, SP, Dhubri and a host of local leading citizens and general public.

Since the time of inauguration, the outpost is running in a rented house. The police outpost is manned only by two ASIs, three constables and two Home guards. As there are no quarters, some of the members of the outpost are living in rented accommodations. The condition of the Assam type house is so deplorable that during rainy season, the outpost remains under water as the area is like a paddy field and police personnel have to perform their duties with much difficulty.

The jurisdiction of the outpost extends to an 8 sq km area comprising several villages including Balajan, Sahebganj, Naisarkuti, Bausmari, Dhorarghat, Kurirpar etc. It has become very difficult for the police personnel to maintain law and order as the staff is very less. The NH-31 runs through Balajan and accidents occur frequently as some of the areas are accident prone. People of greater Balajan area have demanded upgradation of the outpost into a police station with all amenities for proper maintenance of law and order in the entire area.
