Bajali sub-div ready for Lok Sabha polls

PATACHARKUCHI, March 13 - With the Lok Sabha election round the corner, the Bajali sub-division is gearing up to hold the poll in a peaceful manner. As per guidelines of the Election Commission, the administration has started removing hoardings and posters of the political parties soon after enforcing the Model Code of Conduct. The election office here will conduct election for no. 5 Kokrajhar HPC and no. 6 Barpeta HPC under Patacharkuchi LAC and Bhabanipur LAC. Altogether 397 polling stations will be opened, out of which 204 will be located in Bhabanipur LAC and 193 in Patacharkuchi LAC.

Under the Bajali subdivision, 2,78247 voters will exercise their franchise, out of which 1,39,666 are from Bhabanipur LAC while 1,38,581 are from Patacharkuchi LAC respectively. Dhiraj Jain, Election Officer, informed that the district administration has made arrangements for differently-abled voters so that they can cast their votes without any problem. Altogether 17 cells, 8 flying squads and 6 video surveillance groups have already been formed in the district for the smooth conduct of polls. He further informed that the voting machines will be accompanied by Voters Verification Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) in the election.

He also informed that software Apps like CVIGIL, SUBIDHA, and Samadhan portal will be introduced. A strict vigilance will be kept on the social media too.
