Baghmari TE incident condemned

BISWANATH CHARIALI, June 10 � Protesting the brutal killing of Bharat Bhuyan, the head clerk of Baghmari TE by a mob on Friday, thousands of people from the surrounding areas staged a road blockade on NH 52 at Burhigang on Saturday.

The people demanded rigorous punishment to the guilty. The Asam Chah Karmachari Sangha�s Naduar Circle too condemned the murder.

The Small Tea Growers� Association, ABITA etc. have also condemned the incident and urged the Government to ensure security to the life and property of the employees.

Meanwhile, it has come to light that an amount of Rs 92,84,600 collected from 840 permanent labourers of the tea garden for provident fund and gratuity had not been deposited since the last 3 years. The manager of the garden, SB Singha had ordered the PF clerk Sunil Gudia to submit his report at the earliest as the garden was being repeatedly warned by the PF office. Being unable to submit the status of the collected money, PF clerk Gudia committed suicide and named the other two in his suicide note.

While Bharat Bhuyan was murdered, the doctor Dr Ramesh Chandra is still absconding with his family members. An FIR was lodged by the management of Baghmari TE at Gingia Police Station.
