Bagan to take on ONGC in I-League

By The Assam Tribune

KOLKATA, April 23 (PTI): A depleted Mohun Bagan will take on ONGC at home in their round 23 return-leg I-League fixture at Yuba Bharati Krirangan tomorrow.

Already missing the services of their star striker Jose Barreto, Mohun Bagan will have to do away with another forward Edeh Chidi because of suspension after picking a red in their last match against Chirag United.

Mohun Bagan will again miss out on defender N Mohan Raj and goalkeeper Shilton Paul because of double bookings.

In such a scenario, Mohun Bagan will once again look up to Subair Muritala, who had scored a late goal to escape the embarrassment of going down to Chirag United. Mohun Bagan have been struggling for form with their last win coming in a round 17 match against Viva Kerala more than a month ago.

Since then, they have suffered heart-breaking losses against Dempo and bitter rivals East Bengal to shatter the hopes of their big fan following.

Out of the title race, Mohun Bagan will have another chance to restore their lost pride, even as they will face a strong challenge from the Mumbai outfit, who are fresh from their wins over JCT and HAL, Banglore. Lying on 13th position with 18 points from 22 matches, ONGC will be on a mission to improve their position in the table.

On points tally, Mohun Bagan are on sixth position with 27 points from 21 matches.
