BAMBOLIM (GOA), Nov 20: Former champions ATK Mohun Bagan edged past host Kerela Blasters 1-0 in the inaugural match of the Indian Super League (ISL) at the GMC Stadium here today.
Roy Krishna netted the match winning goal for the Kolkata outfit.
In the first major football tournament of the country organised since the enforcement of COVID-19 lock down, the opener was played behind closed doors.
Both the teams started their proceedings cautiously and hardly went all out during the first session. However, Kolkata team enjoyed better share of the ball and created several openings. Their star attacker Roy Krishna squandered three scoring chances alone.
After the barren first session Krishna put ATK Mohun Bagan ahead in the 67th minute with a gentle touch when the Kerala defenders failed to clear the ball. In the remaining part of the match Mohun Bagan players were more aggressive but failed to increase the margin. � Agencies
