Baba Lokenath remembered

GAURIPUR, June 7 - The death anniversary of Lokenath Brahmachari popularly known as Baba Lokenath was observed at the Lokenath Baba temple situated along the NH 31 at Gauripur with a day long programme recently. The devotees assembled on the premises of the temple to pay obeisance to the idol of Lokenath. Puja rituals were performed and the devotees offered puspanjali.

It may be mentioned here that Lokenath Brahmachari was a Hindu yogi and mystic who lived during the 18th and 19th century, Bengal and resided for 26 years at the village Boradi, district Narayanganj, Bangladesh. Born on August 31, 1730 at Basirhat, West Bengal, he passed away on June 2, 1890 in Bangladesh.

His main mantra was, �Whenever you are in danger, remember me from your heart, I will save you wherever you are in a battle field or in a jungle or anywhere. Whenever you are in danger whether in the middle of the ocean or in the midst of the battlefield or in the deepest jungle, remember me and I will deliver you to safety.�
