B Borooah College to host int�l seminar

GUWAHATI, Sept 3 - The B Borooah College will host the XI International Geographical Union (IGU) Commission Seminar cum 29th Biennial Conference of the North East India Geographical Society (NEIGS) from February 8 to 10 next year.

The focal theme of the seminar has been selected as �Environment and Sustainable Livelihood�.

The seminar will be organised in collaboration with the five IGU commissions viz., IGU Commission on Biogeography and Biodiversity, IGU Commission on Land Use and Land Cover Change, IGU Commission on Local and Regional Development, IGU Commission on Geography of Governance and IGU Commission on Geo-Heritage and Soil and Water Assessment Tool.

An organising and advisory committee has been formed with professors, eminent academicians and scholars from different institutions of India and abroad, heads of State and Central government departments and NGOs for smooth functioning of the event.

The event will be attended by Professor Yukio Himiyama, Hokkaido University of Japan and president of IGU, and Professor Elena dell�Agnese, University of Milano and vice president of IGU along with many other eminent scientists from abroad.

The organising committee has invited research papers from academicians and researchers from various disciplines under 21 sub-themes under environment and sustainable livelihood for oral and poster presentation. Intending participants can submit their abstracts on or before October 31 through online submission at iguguwahati2018.org or may contact Dr Nripendra Ram Kalita and Dr Dhanjit Deka, joint convenor of the organising committee.

Dr Satyendra Nath Barman, Principal of B Borooah College and president of the organising committee, has appealed to the scholars of the State to share their suggestions and views to make the event a success.
