AYWO organises poster campaign against CAB

By The Assam Tribune

TURA, Jan 18 - The Achik Youth Welfare Organisation (AYWO) yesterday organised a poster campaign along with distribution of pamphlets to residents against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 (CAB).

The campaign began from Asanang and passed through Dakopgre MP Stadium via Ringrey, Tura Bazaar, Dobasipara, New Tura, Bokmagre, and Me'gong Boldak.

The NGO was joined by GSU, FKJGP, ADE and NESO in their campaign with protesters shouting slogans against the NDA Government led by BJP.

The protesters expressed anguish over the incident in Tripura where police fired upon the unarmed protesters.

Killings condemned: United Achik Youth Federation (UAYF) has condemned the spurt of killings and kidnappings taking place in South West Khasi Hills (SWKH) district, adding that the situation was creating a fear psychosis amongst the population.

The NGO further stated that a rally to condemn the violence would be undertaken in Ranikor on January 23.

Recently, a school student of Mawpyllun UP School from Rajai-A village was kidnapped. There were several other cases of brutal killing and abduction, said the NGO.

We demand the release of the abducted student by the kidnappers. The police and administration should do everything to bring back the student safely, the NGO added in a press release.
