AYUSH directorate to be set up in Nagaland

DIMAPUR, June 19 - The Centre has assured to set up a separate directorate for the AYUSH in Nagaland. Union Minister of State for AYUSH Shripal Yesso Naik conveyed the decision to Nagaland Minister for Health and Family Welfare S Pangnyu Phom when he called on the former in New Delhi on Tuesday, a release stated today.

Naik told Phom that the AYUSH project would cover all the 11 districts of Nagaland. Apprising the Union Minister of the implementation of the AYUSH scheme in the State, Phom requested him for more AYUSH hospitals in all the districts of the State.

The release said Naik appreciated the State for implementing the AYUSH scheme in the State properly and assured of launching more AYUSH projects in the State.

The Union minister asked the State to submit priority projects at the earliest. Phom was accompanied by State Health and Family Welfare Commissioner and Secretary Himato and Director Vizolie.

On Monday, Phom called on Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and sought help in completing the Nagaland Medical College in time.

In another development, Nagaland Planning and Coordination Minister Neiba Kronu urged the Centre to continue providing more Ekalavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSes) in all blocks of the State for ensuring quality education to tribal students.

Kronu made the appeal at a meeting with Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda at his official chamber at the Shastri Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday, the department stated in a release on Wednesday.

Kronu informed Munda that all three EMRSes in Nagaland are doing well and had cent per cent pass results in the Class X exams in 2019.
