JALUKBARI, April 7 - Popular film personality Kapil Bora today ceremonially flagged off the mass awareness rally at Palashbari organised by the Kamrup Disability Assistance Centre (K- DAC) which is an initiative under �THE MYVOTE CAMPAIGN� of Kamrup Election District administration.
The rally was organised in order to spread the message of the need to exercise the �right to vote� by all members of society irrespective of one�s physical disability.
Actor Bora appreciated the initiative taken by the Kamrup Election District for making arrangements at polling stations to facilitate voters with disability.
Earlier, DC and DEO of Kamrup Vinod Seshan in his speech highlighted the special initiatives taken in Kamrup to facilitate the voters with disability in casting their votes. He also informed that basic needs like ramp facilities and wheelchairs have been made available at polling stations. Besides, provision of Braille brochures for visually impaired, preference to disabled voters, special volunteers for polling booths etc., have been made.
The rally was also addressed by DC of South Kamrup Rajib Prakash Baruah, Circle Officer of Palashbari Pankaj Chakrabarty, ambassador of K-DAC and executive director of Sishu Sarothi Arman Ali. Disabled voters of the locality besides students, government officials and NGO members participated in the rally. The rally started from the Palashbari Circle Office and culminated at Bijoynagar Bazar Tiniali.
