Awareness rally on PM Matru Vandana Yojana

SIVASAGAR, Dec 6 - Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Dr MS Lakshmi Priya flagged off an awareness rally on December 3 last as part of the observation of Matru Vandana Week-2019 under Prime Minister Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).

The rally was taken out from the office of the Deputy Commissioner to promote the PMMVY and make people aware of its benefits. Anganwadi workers, Anganwadi helpers, ANM, ASHA and other line department members participated in the rally. Five booths were set up in different places of the district to promote and spread awareness on PMMVY scheme. These booths were set up in Sivasagar town, Amguri, Nazira, Gaurisagar and Demow.

In the project level, food demonstration activities with the theme �Take Home Ration (THR)� were also organised in all six ICDS projects of the district.

Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner Junumoni Sonowal inaugurated Matru Vandana Week-2019 in a meeting held at Tarun Sangha Reading Club, Darbar Field, Sivasagar on December 2. The Sub-Divisional Medical Officer Dr Hementa Baruah, District Social Welfare Officer Dipali Devi and Child Development Project Officers Monalisa Sarmah and Rupa Gogoi were present on the occasion. The main attraction of the inauguration programme was the ;Selfie Corner�, an innovative process for promotion of the PMMVY scheme. The corner was set up at the at the venue for taking selfie with beneficiaries of PMMVY. The Selfie Corners were also set up at Anganwadi centres as part of the observance of Matru Vandana Week- 2019.

Further, as part of observance, a �Baby Care Centre� was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner at the DC�s office premises on December 4.

PMMVY is a maternity benefit programme run by the Central government. Matru Vandan Saptah under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is observed every year across the country with a view to intensify implementation of the scheme and to create mass awareness.
