Awareness rally for eco-friendly Diwali

MANGALDAI, Oct 27 - With a view to spread the message on the urgent need to celebrate the ensuing Diwali, the Festival of Lights in an eco-friendly manner by discarding firecrackers, the Darrang district administration in association with the authority of Mangaldai Municipal Board carried out a public awareness rally across Mangaldai town on Thursday morning.

The participants taking part in the rally displayed placards, banners etc for an eco-friendly , Swachh Diwali celebration.

The rally which took off from Gandhi Maidam premises, was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Darrang, Ashok Kumar Barman, other senior officials of Darrang district administration, Chairman of Darrang Municipal Board Pratap Bordoloi, besides representatives of different local organisations, among others.

The rallyists urged the citizens to discard firecrackers and such other inflammable material in order to minimise air and sound pollution.
