GAURIPUR, July 19 - The second and last phase of awareness programme on NRC is scheduled to be held from July 22 and the programme will be held in 991 centres covering the entire rural areas of the district of Dhubri.
The names of the D-voters numbering 5,700 and their descendents numbering 200 will not appear in the final draft of the NRC to be published on July 30 as informed by the authorities concerned. The district administration has geared up for the final draft NRC.
Workshop on Bihu dance: A 10-day workshop on Bihu dance and Dhol Badan organised by the Shrimanta Sankar Madhab Bihuadal of Gauripur from July 8 - 17 ended yesterday.
The closing ceremony held on July 18, was presided over by Manas Chakrabarty, president of the organising committee. Ashutosh Ray, secretary explained the purpose of the meeting. The meeting was attended by AN Sharma, Kshitish Chandra Ray, Jyotish Chandra Ray, Pramod Ray, Bijoy Singh Chamaria and a few others. Altogether 65 trainees participated in the workshop and Oja Mukul Bora from Golaghat and Jayanta Bhargab Gogoi of Sivasagar took part in the workshop.
The organising committee also felicitated both Bora and Gogoi at a function. The dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the committee for successful completion of the workshop.
