Awareness programme on GST

SHILLONG, June 13 - Following the enactment of the Meghalaya Goods and Service Tax Act, 2017, a three-day awareness programme on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) has begun here today.�

The awareness programme is being held at the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, Shillong, for all the stakeholders to formalise with the new tax regime and its associated laws.

During the three-day programme experts would give insight into GST Law and various aspects of the GST network portal.

Meanwhile, the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, Meghalaya has informed that the enrollment process under the GST regime is open for all Value Added Tax (VAT) payers and stakeholders.

The enrollment of existing tax payers would be continue till�June 15�and from June 17�onwards enrollment for Tax Deduction at Source for all Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDO�s) and enrollment for Goods and Service Tax (GST) Practitioners would begin.

From�June 21�onwards registration for new tax payers under the GST regime would begin, and from�June 25�registration for dealers, opting for composition scheme under GST would start, officials here said.
