UMIAM, April 1 - As per the directives from the Election Commission of India, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, organised a voters� awareness programme in the institute. The programme was organised to sensitise the staff about the rights and duty they have in the electoral process. The ability to exercise the right to vote is to celebrate democracy as a festival, a press release stated.
The programme was attended by the scientific community along with technical and the administrative staff of the institute. The Chief Administrative Officer of the institute Krishna Kant Kulshreshtha addressing the gathering emphasised on the importance of casting our precious votes and to properly use the right vested on us as the citizens of the country.
He stressed on the fact that the Election Commission has taken various initiatives to spread awareness among the masses about the electoral process. With the message that �every vote counts to make a difference� the programme was concluded.
