GUWAHATI, Sept 29 - Indian Oil AOD State Office, Indian Oils marketing headquarters in the North-east, in an effort to create awareness among people, organised an awareness programme on plastic waste management at Beltola Bazar today.

This was followed by a nukkad natak (street play) to dissuade people from the use of single-use plastic products. A human chain was formed to draw public attention and increase mass sensitisation on plastic waste management.

Cloth bags were also distributed among the people as an alternative for poly-bags and plastic waste collection was also done from in and around the Bazar area. The effort was led by Utiya Bhattacharyya, Chief General Manager of Indian Oil AOD in NE.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhattacharyya said that all the activities being carried out were a part of the shramdaan by the employees of Indian Oil to build a better future. He emphasised the detrimental effects of plastic and its use for the planet and its inhabitants, which has become a huge concern for all.
