GUWAHATI, June 28 In the backdrop of the confusion related to the ongoing NRC update process, the Assam Chamber of Commerce (ACC) today organised a general awareness programme at Beltola here.

The programme was attended by citizens from all walks of life. Calling upon the people to participate in the process, Rupam Goswami, state chairman, ACC said that this step of NRC update was an epoch-making development for Assam and it would ensure constitutional safeguard for the people in the days to come.

Goswami said that while filling up the NRC form some confusion was noticed, which should be clarified after discussion with experts. It is the duty of all citizens to take part in the NRC update process. There have been some problems for the applicants while looking up for their legacy data, but this should not dampen the enthusiasm of the people. We request all the people of Assam to solve the issue of legacy data by getting in touch with the authorities concerned and fill up the NRC forms, urged Goswami, adding that the ACC was ready to extend help to people who need it for filling up the NRC forms.

It needs to be mentioned here that the ACC has decided to organise a series of such awareness camps across the State.
