Awareness meet on NRC held at Goreswar

GORESWAR, June 28 - An awareness meet on NRC was organized by Baksa district administration at Bishnu Rabha Bhavan here at Goreswar today with a view to create awareness among the people under Goreswar Revenue circle in Baksa district.

The meeting was chaired by Sanjib Kumar Gogoi and the objective of the meeting was explained by Alakananda Medhi , Circle Officer of Goreswar.

Deputy Commissioner of Baksa, Sanjib Kumar Gogoi took part in the awareness meet and said that the people need not to panic even if their names do not appear in the second draft of the NRC update slated to be published on June 30.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Baksa, Ratul Kalita attended the meeting and appealed to the field-level officials who are engaged in NRC update works to create awareness among the villagers. The message that there is no need to panic or worry for all the genuine Indian citizens if their names do not enter the second draft of NRC update because sufficient time will be given to them to submit their claims and objections in the next final phase. This is the important message should be spread among the public in the villages and urban areas, he said.

Addressing the gathering, Binay Kalita, Superintendent of police (SP) of Baksa said that the names which are declared as foreigners by Court and doubtful citizens which are indicated as �D� voter in the voter list will not enter the NRC draft.
