�Awareness key to fight cancer�

GUWAHATI, Aug 19 - To raise awareness about cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection and treatment, the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Khanapara, in collaboration with the Deepsikha Cancer Care Foundation organised a NCC Cancer Awareness Workshop at the College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara here today.

The primary goal of the workshop was to create awareness to reduce deaths caused by the disease.

During the event, PK Ghosh, advisor and founder general secretary, and also a cancer survivor himself for the last 23 years, along with Dr Mrinmoyee Baruah and the team members of Deepsikha delivered lectures on cancer awareness. Ghosh said the objective of that workshop is to spread the message among the general public that cancer is preventable and completely curable, if detected early. �Also, there is life after cancer and this message too must reach the general public,� Ghosh said.

Speaking on the occasion, Major Rahul Dubey, officer commanding, 47 Assam R&V Sqn NCC, Guwahati, said the NCC cadets who attended the cancer awareness programme will create awareness about the disease and its prevention.

He said the NCC has always been participating in social activities to alleviate suffering of the people.

In the workshop, an interactive session was held, followed by question and answer round, prize and certificate distribution among all the participants.
