Awareness generated against child labour

GUWAHATI, March 29 - A teachers� training programme was held on Monday at the Bishnu Nirmala Sishu Puthibharal at Latasil under the aegis of Kamrup Metro district administration with the help of National Child Labour Project (NCLP).

In the day-long programme, teachers of the 54 Special Training Centres were imparted training regarding the Child Labour Act, besides on ways to make the society aware against the menace of child labour.

Before the training programme, an inaugural meeting was held where the MLA from Guwahati East Siddhartha Bhattacharyya, Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu, Director of Social Welfare SSM Sundaram, Development Commissioner of Kamrup Metro Barnali Sharma, Inspector of Schools K Ahmed, and other senior officials were present.

In his speech, Dr Angamuthu called for necessary steps for eradication of child labour and appealed to the workers of NCLP to create awareness in the society against child labour.

Bhattacharya praised NCLP for its endeavour in working for eradication of child labour.

H Goswami, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Prasenjit Talukdar, Labour Inspector and B Das, Child Protection Officer, participated as trainers in the programme.
