DHUBRI, Sept 17 - The Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with Dhubri district administration organised an �Ethnic culture meet on Anaemia, Diarrhoea, First 1,000 days of a Child, Hygiene, Sanitation and Poshtik Aahaar� recently at Geramari Pt 5 ME School.
A cultural festival on the occasion was inaugurated by Banashree Nath, District Development Commissioner of Dhubri. The programme to fight malnutrition was also attended by Krittika Basumatary, Assistant Commissioner of Bilasipara, member from PHED and Education Department, TATA Trust and a representative from Piramal Foundation at Geramari Pt 5 ME School.
Addressing the gathering, the District Development Commissioner enlightened the public on issues related to child marriage and teenage pregnancy in the context of Poshan Abhiyaan.
The organisations jointly set up stalls in order to highlight women empowerment and financial inclusion in the remote village of Geramari. Illustrated posters on anaemia, diarrhoea, hygiene and sanitation, poshtik aahaar and first 1,000 days of a child were put up in order to educate the masses regarding malnutrition.
Meanwhile, five health institutions of the district were felicitated for having received Kayakalp Award for the year 2018-19 by the Deputy Commissioner of Dhubri Anant Lal Gyani in the presence of many dignitaries from all over the district at the Conference Hall of the Joint Director of Health Services.
Santipur Mini PHC under Raniganj Block PHC got the first prize and received a cheque worth Rs 2 lakh, while Gauripur CHC and Moterjhar Mahatma Gandhi Model Hospital received the commendation award of Rs 1 lakh each.
Again, Bilasipara SHC and Golokganj PHC got commendation awards and received a cheque each worth Rs 5,000 as PHC category health institution.
