Awareness about water supply project

GUWAHATI, Oct 22 � A public awareness meeting was held earlier this week at Hengrabari Rajohuwa Namghar, Forest Gate, to create awareness among the residents about the new water supply project implemented by Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA).

In the meeting, the project team emphasized the core message that after completion of this new water supply project the residents of Guwahati will get 24x7 clean and treated drinking water with adequate force, stated a press release.

The meeting started with the screening of a documentary film which is based on the project, followed by a power point presentation and an interactive session between the public and the project team members.

In the meeting, the residents of the area expressed concern about the project completion period and road restoration process. They also enquired about the water pressure and the procedures to be followed for availing service connection.

The project team answered all the queries of public and informed that the project will be fully managed by the Guwahati Jal Board (GJB), which has been constituted by the State government.

It was informed to the public that as a part of responsibility towards public awareness and to redress their grievances, a Customer Care Centre has been established with toll free telephone number �1800-345-3615� for any information regarding the project or to lodge their complaints on all working days between 10 am to 5 pm.

The citizens were also told that for more information about the project they can also log on to www.guwahatijalboard.gov.in, which is the GJB website.
