Awards for service towards cancer prevention announced

DIBRUGARH, Nov 21 - Pratishruti Cancer and Palliative Trust, a non-profit foundation, working for cancer prevention, early detection, palliative care, treatment and as support to cancer patients, has announced various categories of awards for service towards the treatment of cancer patients, social help, palliative care and best volunteer etc., as part of its foundation day celebration on December 15.

The Trust has decided to honour Dr Tapan Saikia, Head of Medical Oncology and Research Department, Prince Ali Khan Hospital, Mumbai with Dr Heramba Kumar Bharali Memorial Award for outstanding service in cancer care. Palliative Care Centre of State Cancer Institute, Guwahati will be awarded with Dr Prahlad Kumar Baruah Memorial Award for its dedicated service in palliative care.

Makonbala Dutta Memorial Children Cancer Trust, Sibsagar will be awarded with Ashwini Charan Choudhury Memorial Award (pioneer in cancer social service) and Palliative Care Centre of Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre will be awarded with DK Gogoi Shastri Memorial Award for leadership in Palliative Home Care.

The awards will be conferred as part of the foundation day celebration of Pratishruti, which is to be organised on December 20, a release stated.
