Award to DN Chakravarty

MORIGAON, Nov 12 - The Dayal Krishna Bora memorial Brahmaputra Valley Samaj Hitoishi Award-2019, under the auspices of Sahai, a socio-cultural organisation, was formally conferred on veteran journalist Dhirendra Nath on Sunday in an august programme held at Morigaon District Library.

The Finance and PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma formally handed over the award to the 93-year-old journalist.

Speaking on the occasion, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he is happy to confer the award on a right journalist of Assam who never hesitates to write and speak even at a point when extremists threatened his life. Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that DN chakravarty always advocated for the unity and integrity of Bharat and its Sanatani civilisation. Vaishnavite scholar Dayal Krishna Bora was a worthy son of Morigaon district, who sacrificed his whole life for the cause of the society.

Speaking on the occasion, DN Chakravarty said that he is still writing for the society and is a senior working journalist of entire Asia by now. Presenting the socio-economic history of Assam and India, Chakravarty said that we have a golden history right from Mahabharat days and we must uphold the century-old historical tradition. He refereed to ULFA�s ideology and said that it was nothing but a suicidal activity, which was vehemently protested by him tooth and nail during his long journalistic career.
