GUWAHATI, June 15 � Director Sanchita Talukdar was awarded the �Best Emerging Woman Film Director� at the Bangalore Shorts Film Festival held on June 14.
She received a trophy and a certificate of excellence for the short film Astitwa - the Identity, a press release said.
Earlier on April 30, 2015, Sanchita received the �Special Festival Mention Award-2015� at the fifth Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival, 2015 in Delhi for the same film.
Appreciated by the jury members, the short film has been produced by Jyoti Kakati and directed by Sanchita Talukdar.
The film�s story, script and dialogues are written by Jyoti Kakati.
In the festival, 70 countries and more than 600 national and international films participated � out of which Astitwa... the Identity came out with flying colours. The film focusses on the growing violence on women in the society � a scourge that needs attention.
Roles in the film have been played by Pankaj Barua, Jyotika Nandini, Manab Jyoti Das, Mrinal Bhumi, Gyandeep Kalita and Chintu Deka.
