IMPHAL, July 17 - Distinguished writer and academician Prof Elangbam Dinamani was conferred the Writer of the Year 2018 (Lifetime Achievement) Award for his outstanding contributions to literature and education in Manipur.

The award comprising a shawl, citation and memento was handed over to the noted writer during the Writers� Day function held at the Priyogopalsana Auditorium here today.

Manipur Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution Minister Karam Shyam, distinguished writer Prof Dinamani, A Shivdas Sharma, Director of Art and Culture, Manipur, and the president of the Naharol Sahitya Premee Samiti, Imphal, L Upendro Sharma attended the function.

In his speech, the minister said that such types of functions would encourage budding writers of the State.

Kabui writer DL Kabui, who was also present in the function, shared his experiences with the audience in the function.

A magazine titled Wakhal, edited by Rajmani Ayekpam, was also released at the function.
