GUWAHATI, Aug 23 � Members of the All Guwahati Autorickshaw Drivers� Union today registered their protest against public activist Professor Deven Dutta, who on Sunday flayed the autorickshaw operators for opposing the meter fare system.
Prof Dutta had also slammed the Transport Department for its failure to make the meter fare system operational in the State.
The union in a statement said, �Prof Dutta�s statements were unjustified and misleading. Instead of understanding our position, he made some irresponsible comments against us, which is unfortunate.�
Members of the union also displayed placards on the RG Baruah Road condemning Prof Dutta�s comments.
