AU Mass Com Dept bags Leadership Award

SILCHAR, Feb 26 - For the second consecutive year, the Department of Mass Communication of the Assam University (AU), Silchar, has been awarded with the Education Leadership Award, 2016.

Prof DL Dwivedi, senior academician, gave away the award to Dr Syed Murtaza Alfarid Husain, Assistant Professor of the Department of Mass Communication of the university at a function held recently at the Taj Land End Hotel in Mumbai. The award function was organized by the DNA, a national English daily, in collaboration with Stars Group Industry.

According to RL Bhatia, the organizer of the award function, there have been entries from various public and private educational institutes across India and the selections were made on the basis of a strenuous scrutiny by a panel of jury members that comprise industry leaders and eminent academicians.

�This award is the result of the collective effort of the department fraternity. Since its inception in 1996, this is one of the oldest Mass Communication Departments offering PG courses in journalism. At present, the Department offers PG, MPhil, PhD and Post Doctoral courses in communication studies.

Prof RR Dhamala, Vice-Chancellor of the university, congratulated the Department for the achievement.
