Atul Bora AGP president for second term

GUWAHATI, Nov 27 - The general house meeting of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today unanimously elected Atul Bora as the president of the party for the second time. The �one man one post� provision in the regional party�s constitution was also amended as Bora is a member of the State Cabinet.

Bora was elected as the party president for the first time in 2014 and currently he is the State Minister of Agriculture, Horticulture and Food Processing, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, etc.

The central executive committee of the party is formed during the triennial conferences of the party. The 10th central triennial conference started here on November 26. As the newly elected president of the party, Bora has been entrusted with the responsibility of selecting the working president and other members of the committee.

A total of 50 district units of the AGP with 600 representatives took part in the meeting that adopted a resolution to oppose the Union Government�s move to grant citizenship to religious minorities from Bangladesh, saying that it was against the Constitution of the country. The party also adopted several other resolutions, including the demand for implementation of the Assam Accord within a specific time-frame.
