GUWAHATI, Aug 28 - The organisations of the deshi janagosthiya community have demanded immediate arrest of the miscreants who attacked the members of two deshi janagosthiya families of Tukrerchara Village Party-IV under Golokganj Revenue Circle of Dhubri district.
A joint statement issued by these organisations here yesterday alleged that on August 22, 2018, members of two deshi community families were attacked by some members of a students organisation, which represent the migrants, on the issue of re-construction of a century-old mosque belonging to the deshi community people.
The mosque was eroded away by the Gangadhar river about three years back. The deshi community people, with the support of the indigenous Rajbongshi people of the area launched a drive to re-build the mosque at their own village. But the migrant community took offence at this move and attacked the members of the two deshi community families around 7-30 pm of August 22, the evening of the Eid-ud-Zoha.
