HAILAKANDI, April 13 � Members of the Hailakandi district committee of Hindu Jagaran Manch have strongly reacted to the attack on Hindu temples and people at various places in Bangladesh. A protest procession was also taken out by the members of the Manch at Lala town in Hailakandi district on Saturday last. Later, a street meeting was organised which was addressed by Diptendra Bhattacharjee, Pradip Deb, Rathindra Choudhury, Ranjoy Nath, Uttam Mukherjee and Milan Das among others. All the speakers condemned the attack on Hindu people and demolition of temples in Bangladesh by fundamentalists and expressed serious concern over the silence of the Government over the issue. In order to create pressure on the Bangladesh government, they urged the Government of India to internationalise the issue immediately.
They said that the Hindu people are facing sleepless nights in Bangladesh and they have been forced to vacate land through repeated persecutions. They threatened to launch a movement against the brutality and inhuman attitude of Bangladesh if it is not stopped immediately.
A memorandum was also sent to the President of India through the Circle Officer of Lala, demanding immediate action from India�s side to stop this violence against a particular community.
Meanwhile, members of the Cachar district Committee of CPI (ML) recently staged a sit-in demonstration in front of the DC�s office in Silchar in protest against the killing of secretary of Asom Sangrami Chah Shramik Sangha and the member of CPI (ML), Gangaram.
A memorandum was also sent to the Governor through the DC, demanding immediate arrest of the killers. The memorandum expressed serious concern over the alleged inaction of the State Government in this respect. They also demanded the arrest of MLA Raju Shah in connection with the murder.
