ATSU observes foundation day

MORIGAON, Feb 25 - The 28th foundation day of All Tiwa Students� Union (ATSU) was observed today by the two factions of ATSU in two different places of Morigaon district.

The ATSU (Dipen Mosrong group) observed the foundation day at Morigaon Bihutoli. The programme started with flag hoisting by Dipen Mosrong followed by smriti tarpan by Nibon Amsi. This was followed by a cultural procession flagged off by Jayanta Bora, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Morigaon.

An open meeting held on the occasion was presided over by Dharma Sing Bordoloi. Speaking on the occasion, Pabon Manta, CEM of Tiwa Autonomous Council appealed to the students� organisation to go forward on the 6th Schedule autonomy demand of the Tiwas.

In the meeting, Naresh Kumbang of All Mising Students� Union and Ramen Sing Rabha of All Rabha Students� Union also spoke a few words.

On the other hand, another ATSU group headed by its president Diganta Kalia organised the foundation day programme at Dighalbori village where a large number of people took part.

In this function, Sanjib Deori, general secretary of ATSU ( Diganta Kalia faction) explained the purpose of the meeting and said that his organisation has spearheaded the real movement for all-round development of the Tiwa people.

Addressing the gathering, Rama Kanta Deori, MLA of Morigaon said that the BJP-led State Government has taken up various welfare measures for uplift of the tribal people.
