ATDSU to host volleyball tourney at Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA, Dec 2 - The All Tinsukia District Students Union (ATDSU), in collaboration with Doomdooma Regional Students Union (DRSU), Doomdooma Sports Association (DSA) and the public of Doomdooma will organise a national level prize-money invitational day/night volleyball tournament at the Doomdooma Town Field on December 10 and 11.

The meet will be organised in memory of former ATDSU advisor Prabin Sonowal and four other martyrs-Debajit Biswas, Pradeep Dutta, Bhaben Moran and Akhil Sonowal who were brutally killed by army on February 22, 1994, it was stated by AASU vice-president Pulak Chetia in a press meet here. He also gave an idea about the preparation of the tournament.

The organising body official Mrigen Saikia told that eight teams have already confirmed their participation in the tournament. The teams are-SSB, Gorakhpur (UP), EC Railway, Hazipur (Bihar), Manipur Police Sports Club, NF Railway, Maligaon, Assam Police, Dergaon, Rangoni Youth Sports Foundation (Tezpur), Nabajyoti Sangha, Panitola and Doomdooma Volleyball Club. Two more teams will also participate in tournament.
