Astronomers� body holds workshop at Planetarium

GUWAHATI, April 23 - A three-day State-level master resource person workshop-cum-training on �Basic Observational Astronomy through naked eye and Telescope� concluded at the Guwahati Planetarium today.

The workshop was organised by the Pragjyotish Amateur Astronomers� Association (PRAG) jointly with Guwahati Planetarium. Selected invitees from all the districts of Assam numbering over 50 took part in the workshop.

The topics covered included solar astronomy, exploring night sky through telescope, astrophysics, observational astronomy and cosmology, solar system and beyond and present-day observational techniques in astronomy and solar astronomy.

Dr Kishore Kumar Baruah, Dr Indira Bordoloi, Dr Sanjeeb Kalita, Dr Chandra Rekha Mahanta, Babul Chandra Bora, Manas Pratim Sarma, Dr Biman Medhi, Dr Manabendra Lahkar, among others, attended the workshop as resources persons.

The closing function held today was presided over by Prof Anil Kumar Goswami, president PRAG. Prof Hiralal Duwarah, former Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University attended it as the chief guest.

The open session was also attended and addressed by Dr Kalpana Duwarah, former HoD, Dept of Physics GU and Paramita Sarma, secretary, PRAG.
