GUWAHATI, July 6 - The Climate Cell of the Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) has announced the results of the video speech competition on the subject �Climate Talks,� which it had organised for schoolchildren on relevant topics.
The programme was organised as a part of ASTEC�s ongoing efforts to involve children in particular and people in general during the lockdown period.
The winners of the competition are as follows: Group A (Class V-VII, topic �Understanding weather and climate�) � first: Abagunthita Kashyap, Class VII, St Joseph�s Convent High School, Tezpur; second (joint): Manpreet Gogoi, Class VI, Akshara Global Gurukul, Numaligarh, and Nandita Baruah, Class VII, Progoti ME School, Titabar; third (joint): Nabhuraj Kachari, Class VII, Delhi Public School, Nazira, and Prince Rajbongshi, Class V, Khudarbistupur LP School, Nalbari.
Group B (Class VIII-X, topic �Climate change and biodiversity�) � first: Dhruvaditya Das, Class X, Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School, Guwahati; second: Dibyanjana Deb, Class VIII, KM Little Flower School, Bilasipara; third (joint): Kaushika Das, Class X, Little Flower School, Bongaigaon, and Akashdeep Borgohain, Class X, Nitaipukhuri Shrimanta Sankardeva Vidyalaya, Sivasagar.
Group C (Class XI-XII, topic �Impacts of climate change on agriculture�) � first: Gargi Borah, Class XII, Sai RNS Academy, Guwahati; second: Ananya Kalita, Class XII, South Point School, Guwahati; third: Rimli Risha Pathak, Class XII, Dakshin Kamrup College, Mirza.
Special jury awards were announced in favour of a few children for their presentations. They are Debasmita Saikia, Class VII, Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tezpur; Priyanshu Kalita, Class V, Khudarbistupur LP School, Nalbari; Adrija Gohain, Class VII, Jatiya Vidyalaya, Chabua; Bidisha Baishya, Class V, Sualkuchi Sanatan Balika Vidyalaya, Sualkuchi (in Group A); Noireetpal Moran, Class X, St Xavier�s School, Rupai Siding; Nayana Kalita, Class X, Tihu Girl�s High School, Tihu; Prerona Sarma, Class VIII, St Francis deSales School, Dhemaji (in Group B); and Priyakhi Moran, Class XII, Kakopather Higher Secondary School, Kakopather (in Group C).
The ASTEC will ceremonially present the awards to the winners through an appropriate platform. All prize-winning videos will be uploaded in the Climate Cell ASTEC YouTube channel, a press release said.
