ASTEC prog on Children�s Science Congress

GUWAHATI, July 16 - The Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) held a five-hour discussion through video conferencing mode to deliberate on the focal theme and sub-themes of National Children�s Science Congress (NCSC)-2016 at the Dispur National Informatics Centre here yesterday, according to a press release today.

The discussion revolved around �Science Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development�, for which State-level resource persons assembled at the venue along with over 200 teachers and academic coordinators drawn from 27 districts. Minister of Science and Technology Keshab Mahanta attended the programme and interacted with the participants during his over two-hour stay at the event.

Taking part in the deliberation, ASTEC Director Dr Arup Kumar Mishra laid emphasis on the need to carry the message of NCSC to every nook and corner of the State with voluntary zeal. He also urged all to take special care for ensuring participation of the differently-abled children in the Children�s Science Congress (CSC) as suggested by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Jayanta Kumar Sarma, Dr Bipul Kumar Borah, Dr Utpal Rajguru, Jaideep Baruah, Dr Rajib Das, Manisha Sarma and Manoshi Goswami acted as resource persons. Sandeep Bhattacharjee, assistant coordinator, State Organising Committee, coordinated the entire event.
