AZARA, Oct 16 - At the initiative of the local MLA, Ramendra Narayan Kalita, plying of buses under the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) has started recently along the Deepor Beel. The buses will ply from Khanapara to Chhaygaon via Chakardow, through Gorchuk, Pamohi, Maina Khorang, Deo Chatal, Chakardow, Kalitapara and Matia and Rani-Gate on NH-37.
It is worth mentioning that the people of those areas along the Deepor Beel were facing a lot of problems of transport and communication for several decades. In order to reduce the traffic snarl, the State Government also constructed an alternative road from Gorchuk to Rani-Gate along Deepor Beel. Though earlier, private vehicles were plying on that road, no passenger bus was available on that road.
