GOLAKGANJ, Nov 2 � Infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals has not stopped along the Indo-Bangla border, despite leaders of various political parties making a beeline to visit and inspect the border area and fencing along the border. This was evident by the fact that a Bangladeshi national was apprehended by the BSF on October 29, a day before an Assembly team, led by Deputy Speaker Bhimananda Tanti, visited the entire Indo-Bangla border. The man has been identified as Abdus Samad, 28, of Kalachar village under Kachakata police station of Kurigram district in Bangladesh.
�He was apprehended with 30 saris, 38 lungis and cash amounting to Rs 3,700 from Kalabari border village under South Salmara police station in Dhubri district,� sources said. The team assessed the fencing work and also took stock of the riverine border, which was yet to be fenced completely and the fencing affected by erosion. The team took stock of the fencing at Mahamaya char, Masalabari char and Kalairchar border out post. Legislators Gopinath Das, Kamal Singh Narzary, additional secretary PK Das, deputy joint secretary AN Deka and a host of BSF officials, including the DIG, Dhubri sector, Ajai Singh, accompanied Tanti. Narzary said the team inspected 45 km of the riverine border and held discussions with the BSF officials on various problems faced by them in manning the border. Earlier, on October 21, BJP State president Sidhartha Bhattcharya, who after inspecting the border fencing, expressed serious concern over the porous border along the Indo-Bangla border in a press meet in Dhubri. Prior to Bhattacharya�s visit, AGP president Atul Bora had also visited the border last month.
