Assam�s NSDP down to 11.5 pc: Survey

NEW DELHI, Feb 26 - At 11.5 per cent, Assam�s Per Capita Net State Domestic Product (NSDP) has decreased from 13.7 per cent recorded in the financial year 2013-2014, according to the Economic Survey 2015-2016 tabled by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today.

Assam�s per capita NSDP was highest in 2010-2011 at 16.6 per cent, while it was lowest at 7.2 per cent in 2012-2013. However, Assam�s per capital income was higher than the national average of 9.6 per cent in 2013-2014.

According to the Economic Survey, Tripura�s per capital NSDP at 21.4 per cent is highest in the North East, followed closely by Mizoram at 20 per capita. Arunachal Pradesh�s per capita NSDP was recorded at 12.6 per cent in 2014-2015.

Meanwhile, in other socio-economic indicators, Assam�s literacy rate has been calculated at 72.2 per cent as against the national average of 73 per cent (2011). According to the Report, in 2001, Assam�s literacy rate was 63.3 per cent.

The Economic Survey report said that at least 69.9 per cent (2011) of Assam�s household have access to safe drinking water. While the national average is 85.5 per cent.
