Silchar, March 30: On a day when the APCC leaders and Congress candidates from in Bark Valley were anxiously waiting for former AICC President Rahul Gandhi to reach Silchar and interact with women during the last few hours of the campaign trail for the second phase of Assembly elections, bad weather and spells of shower did not allow his aircraft to land at the airport.

After the scheduled arival at 12 noon at the Silchar airport was over, the Congress leadership including AICC general secretary Bhanwar Jitendra Singh and AIMC chief Sushmita Dev and APCC president Ripun Bora announced that "Rahul Gandhi's flight had to be diverted to Guwahati owing to bad weather conditions."

However, interestingly, when asked by the media on what are the possibilities of Congress which is leading the grand alliance with AIUDF and the Left of winning the 15 seats in Barak Valley out of the 39 seats going for polls on April 1, Jitendra Singh said, " our vision is clear, we are reaching out to the people with our 5 guarantee and the next Chief Minister of the state will be from the Congress party and certainly a son of the soil."

Further, quoting AIUDF supremo Badaruddin Ajmal's response on who next the Chief Minister will be, Singh said, " respected Mr Ajmal too had agreed to support us on whoever will be the next Chief Minister from the Congress party."
