Assamese surgeon�s unique achievement

GUWAHATI, Sept 15 - Dr Hemanga Kumar Bhattacharjee, Associate Professor in the Department of Surgical Disciplines, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, has been selected as one of the two International Surgical Education Scholars for the year 2017 by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).

The American College of Surgeons is a scientific and educational association of surgeons that was founded in 1912 to improve the quality of care for the surgical patients by setting high standards for surgical education and practice.

Dr Bhattacharjee who will be given a scholarship of US $10,000 will utilise it for the visits to surgical centres of his interest in the USA and Canada. The scholarship also gives him an opportunity to attend the ACS Clinical Congress to be held in San Diego, California, from October 22 to 26, 2017. This was stated in a press release.

Dr Bhattacharjee is the eldest son of Dr Rajendra Prasad Sarma and late Debalata Sarma of Srinagar, Guwahati.
