Assamese short film Sita for Cannes fest

GUWAHATI, May 9 � Assamese short film Sita will be screened at the upcoming 68th Cannes Film Festival (Festival de Cannes) scheduled to be held from May 13 to 24.

Sita will be screened in the short film corner section.

The director and producer of the film is Kangkan Deka, who has also done the script from Jiten Sarma�s story. The cinematography is by Prayash Sharma Tamuly.

Shot in a village named Niz-Rangamati near Mangaldoi, the film is about the lives of Moina, a nine-year-old boy, his widowed mother and his beloved goat. The child is emotionally attached to the goat but his mother has some other plans for the animal, and whether Moina and the goat would be able to sustain their bond, is the theme on which the poignant story of Sita revolves.

Child artiste Debajit Deka, Dwipandita Pathak, Reba Phukan, Jagadish Nath, Jayanta Deka and Rahul Deka are in the cast.
