GUWAHATI, Jan 9 - �The Assamese language should not merely be a language of communication; it must be developed as a language of integration.� This was stated by Dr Dilip Kumar Dutta, newly nominated president of Asomiya Sahitya Sanmilani, stated a press release.

Addressing a gathering in the open session of the third state convention of Asomiya Sahitya Sanmilani held at Shilabhadra Kshetra of Dhubri on Sunday, Dr Dutta appealed to the members of the organisation to move towards the realisation of this objective.

The open session of the Sanmilani was attended by 247 delegates from 20 districts of Assam.
