GUWAHATI, June 23 � Assamese filmmaker Bidyut Kotoky�s second feature film, Xhoixobotedemalite...(Rainbow Fields) has been selected for the 2nd season of the Clinik Kathmandu.
Clinik Kathmandu (CLINIK) is a script and project development programme that has been aiming to bring together visual storytellers from nine countries in the South Asian region.
Clinik has been making an effort to highlight projects of film makers living and working in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Myanmar, Pakistan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.�
After extending development support to seven projects last year, this year Clinik has selected nine projects which includes Bidyut Kotoky�s film which is a bi-lingual one. It is in Assamese and Hindi and set in the backdrop of Assam
agitation.
Clinik brings together film projects from the nine countries into a yearlong collaboration infused development programme that provides mentorship and capacity support in finalizing scripts and production strategies for film projects.
It needs to be mentioned here that Bidyut�s documentary �Bhraimoman Theatre- Where Othello Sails with Titanic� had won critical appreciation because of its attempt to capture the past and present of the state�s most popular mobile theatre.
His bi-lingual film �ekhon nedekha nadir xhipare�/�As the River Flows� (Assamese-Hindi), produced by NFDC has won various awards.
Bidyut has completed a feature length documentary on the music scenario of northeast India at the backdrop of insurgency named �Guns & Guitars�A Musical Travelogue� which is to be released by the end of this year.
The other projects selected for Clinik 2015 include Arishadvarga (Arvind Kamath-India), A Fridge and a Microwave (Saima Ghazzanfar-Pakistan), Biman/Aeroplane (Prawin Karki-Nepal), Broken (Christina Kyi-Myanmar), Forbidden Steps (Iram Parveen Bilal-Pakistan/USA), Legacy (Abhimanyu Dixit-Nepal), Project M (Udaya Abeysundara-Sri Lanka), Urutsey/Orange Sky (Rigzin Kalon-India).
Clinik 2015 has kicked off with a week long incubation camp in Bengaluru which will conclude on June 26, 2015, following which the projects will continue to receive development assistance over the following few months.
Clinik is developed and initiated by Docskool, a South Asian network representing filmmakers based in Nepal and has CineMart of International Film Festival of Rotterdam, Open Doors of Festival del film Locarno and Hongkong Asia Film Financing Forum as their industry partner.
