World Drowning Prevention Day : IWT constructs bamboo barricades across ghat points in Silchar

Silchar, July 26: The Inland Water Transport (IWT) Silchar division constructed bamboo barriers near Ghat points across four locations within Silchar on the occasion of World Drowning Prevention Day on Sunday.

According to IWT officials, drowning has been a major cause of concern among people hence barriers with bamboo have been constructed at four locations including Annapurna Ghat; sending across messages of preventing the incidents. Also, signage was installed and life buoy and life jackets were provided in the boats as steps to avert mishaps, an IWT official informed.
