Vaccination drive for fish sellers, vendors, wage earners initiated at Silchar's Fatak Bazar

Silchar, June 21:Cachar Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli launched COVID-19 vaccination drive at the Fish Market building of the densely populated area of Fatakbazar New Market here on Sunday.

According to District Administration sources, in the drive meant especially for fish sellers, wage earners and vendors, as many as 300 people were vaccinated .

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Jalli said "during the successfully completed ward-wise drive, few sections were left out as they could not skip daily wage to stand in cues for vaccination. This drive is to cover such sections of people who can come to get their jabs after shutting down their shops during the mandatory prohibitory hours.

"I urge all to abide by the protocols of Covid even after being vaccinated. I thank everyone for taking part in this campaign against the pandemic. People should take the vaccine without any fear and should not pay heed to any rumors," the Deputy Commissioner said adding that more such dedicated initiatives will be taken up in the future.

Earlier, Ajit Chandra Dev, who is the president of New Market Merchant Association and also a former ward commissioner, spoke on the occasion. Executive officer of Silchar Municipal Board, Cachar Zilla Parishad CEO Eldad Faihriem and ADC Jugal Kishore Rajbongshi also attended the event.
